Please Note:
Completing your Bachelor degree doesn’t have to be the end of your La Xenia journey. After completing three years of study, graduates who want to continue have two optional progression routes: take their experience into the workplace through a Global Internship, or continue their academic studies towards an additional UK Bachelor degree.
Both routes are optional and involve additional fees.
Your classroom doesn’t have to stay in Switzerland.
After graduating, eligible students can choose to take what they have learned at La Xenia into an international professional environment through our Global Internship Route.
Depending on available opportunities and eligibility, placement destinations can include the United Kingdom, United States, Dubai, Singapore and other international locations.
Placements typically last between 6 and 12 months, giving graduates the opportunity to experience what working in hospitality is really like in another part of the world. Some placements may also offer the possibility of extending your stay.
A global internship is about much more than adding another line to your CV.
It is an opportunity to experience a new country, adapt to a different working culture and put your hospitality knowledge into practice in a professional environment. After years of studying alongside an international student community, you get the chance to take that international experience one step further.
You might find yourself working in a busy international hotel, experiencing the hospitality industry in one of the world’s major tourism destinations, or discovering an entirely different approach to service and guest experience.
And, importantly, you will be doing it as a graduate rather than simply as a student.
Global Internship placements normally run for 6 to 12 months.
That gives you time to settle into the destination, understand the workplace and gain meaningful professional experience rather than simply visiting for a few weeks.
For selected placements, there may also be opportunities to extend beyond the original placement period, subject to the employer, destination, visa requirements and other applicable conditions.
Placement opportunities vary, but destinations may include:
Each destination offers something different. The right route will depend on your goals, available placements, employer requirements and your eligibility to work or undertake an internship in the destination.
During your studies, you develop hospitality knowledge, practical skills and experience working with people from different backgrounds.
The Global Internship Route gives you the opportunity to put all of that together.
Learn how an international workplace operates. Meet new colleagues. Experience another culture. Build professional connections. Become more independent. And return with something that cannot be learned entirely in a classroom: real experience of living and working internationally.
For students who aren’t quite ready for the international journey to end at graduation, this can be the beginning of the next one.
Prefer to keep studying? Graduates also have the option of progressing to:
Upon completion of three years of study with La Xenia, students have the option to undertake additional studies leading to a UK Bachelor degree.
This route normally requires approximately 6 months to 1 year of additional study and is subject to an additional fee.
It provides an alternative progression route for graduates who would prefer to continue building their academic qualifications after completing their La Xenia studies.
Two different directions. One decision: what do you want to do next?
Global Internship and Year 4 opportunities are optional and subject to additional fees. Internship destinations, duration, extensions and placements are subject to availability, individual eligibility, employer requirements and applicable immigration/visa regulations.
