Explanation of Fees

Tuition Fee

The tuition fee includes: Access to onsite and online classroom, practical room, qualified faculties, access to Moodle – La Xenia’s virtual learning environment, extensive academic guidance, guaranteed internship opportunities, personalised career coaching and on-campus recruitment, industry presentations and examiner fees. For details of special fees for Swiss/EU nationals and information on merit scholarships and other related information, please refer to the page on Scholarship and Special Offers. There is no tuition fee payable to La Xenia during the internship semesters.

Application Fee

This fee is for processing your application and supporting documents. Application fee is non-refundable.

Meals Fee

The meals package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday plus brunch and dinner on weekends and public holidays. From Monday to Friday there is a mini-buffet for the students to choose from. On Saturday, Sunday and holidays there is an a la carte menu that students can preorder from if a student wishes to have food at La Xenia. For vegetarians and for those who do not eat pork or beef, special dishes are provided with no extra charge.  

Accommodation Fee

The accommodation fees listed above are for a Twin Standard room with Private Toilet and Shower for one semester of study. Students may opt for another room type (fees are listed below). All our rooms come with a Private Toilet and Shower. La Xenia reserves the right to allocate this room type to each student, or students may apply to be upgraded on a “first come, first served” basis and subject to availability. If the room choice is no longer available at the time the total fee has been paid, students will be offered an alternative room category at an additional or reduced price (please refer to the list below or contact the Admissions Office for further details).

Operating Expenses

The Operating Expenses is additional to the tuition, application, meals and accommodation fees and is to be paid yearly for each year of study.

La Xenia will, at its discretion, charge to this Operating Expenses such things as:

• Compulsory monthly health and accident insurance premiums during the academic semester
• La Xenia’s uniform suit, La Xenia’s t-shirt
• Simcard, airport pick up (for new students only)
• Student card and name tag
• Visa, B-permit and local tax (in Switzerland)
• Access to e-campus and internet
• Excursions and field trips
• Job placement upon graduation
• Chromebook access for classes
• Ebook and class materials
• Student Counsellor
• Campus Recreational Facilities
• Kitchen uniforms, shoes and cooking materials ** ONLY included for Culinary Arts students and kitchen practical classes

The Operating Expenses does not cover negligent or wilful breakages or loss of school property, which will be charged at replacement cost. A security deposit of CHF 1,500 is required from all applicants upon arrival. Any damage / loss of school property by students will be deducted from the security deposit.

The Operating Expenses does not include health insurance during work placement in Switzerland, which is required by Swiss law. La Xenia reserves the right to collect this from students prior to work placement. Students may apply to La Xenia to pay this from work placement wages (approval at the discretion of La Xenia).

Note: The Operating Expenses are partly refundable if a student leaves La Xenia before the end of the academic year under amicable terms. The amount of the refundable fee is under the discretion of La Xenia and will be dealt with on a case-to-case basis. 

Payment Plans

La Xenia can provide students (new and returning) with a payment plan to help extend the payment of their educational fees. Please note, this service will be subject to an interest rate applied on a per semester basis as well as this service is not available for all students. We will consider it case-by-case.

La Xenia Refunds and Cancellations Timeline

• 100% refund of all fees and the deposit, if 3 months or more notice is given by signed form to La Xenia before the programme starts, (or if a student’s visa is refused).
• 50% refund of all fees and the deposit, if between 2 and 3 months notice is given by signed form to La Xenia before the programme starts.
• 10% refund of all fees and the deposit, if between 1 and 2 months notice is given by signed form to La Xenia before the programme starts.
• 0% refund of all fees and the deposit received after the programme starts.

Note:

• Application Fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
• Any refund due will be paid to the person or organization who originally paid the fees and will be made within 45 calendar days of written confirmation (not counting public holidays).
• In the case of serious illness, it’s allowed to defer until the healing of the illness. No refund of the paid deposit is given in this case.
